“Amor Y Ashé” our chosen theme for MCCLA’S Carnaval SF contingent in 2020, is gearing up once again to parade along San Francisco’s Mission District, and would like your support. The festival, usually a two day affair, culminates with the parade where approximately 70 diverse contingents participate. Carnaval Sf is the biggest, diverse, cultural and artistic party in our Latino Community, and we want you to be a part of it.

Carnaval San Francisco has been a staple institution in the city for decades that provides a space to cultivate and celebrate Latino and Caribbean culture. The Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts has been an active participant for over 40 years in Carnaval festivities. The MCCLA Carnaval contingent invites the community at large, young and adults alike, to join us once a year in a fun-filled cultural event. Our carnaval participants are not professional dancers, but rather, community members of all walks of life who love dancing and participating in such cultural community events.

Theme: Under San Francisco’s Carnaval chosen theme: “Salud es Poder.”Our contingents theme “AMOR Y ASHÈ”, alludes to the significance that MCCLA represents for the community (Corazón del barrio) as the heart of the Mission. “ASHÈ” refers to the Yoruba term meaning, power, good energy, good health, and good luck as a way of blessing its people.

Donate Today: All your donations will help pay for artists fees, sound system, float construction, decorations, props, and the production of a Carnaval video.
